Vintage Les Paul TV and Fender Brown Deluxe

I purchased these circa 1964 from the original owner. She was a dear friend, neighbor, and talented musician who bought them for her teen-aged daughter. The girl liked to sing, but didn't really want to play guitar. After a number of years not being used, my friend offered to sell them to me.

I had five young boy-children at the time and thought the set might be "nice to have" in case any of them might want to play. So I bought the set and was I ever wrong! Some of my sons were tone deaf, others disinterested, and none tried for more than a month or so. When grandchildren came along it was the same story.

So these instruments have mostly been sitting idle in my closet for forty years!

The Set

Having been barely used, the instruments have not been reconditioned, refinished, repaired, retouched, or even restrung. The amplifier plays beautifully with the original vacuum tubes. It is absolutely pristine. The guitar has some wear on the body finish. The cables and sling are flawless. The carrying case for the guitar is somewhat battered.

The set includes:

  • Les Paul SG TV guitar, tortoise pickguard, early 1960 manufacture, s/n 011508. Among the last of the 1958 model runs, note that "Les Paul" is not on the peghead, like the late 1959 Les Paul TV Specials, which were the first to do so.
  • Fender "brown tolex" Deluxe amplifier, 1961-63 model, s/n D01458
  • guitar case, guitar sling, amp cover, electrical cables and reverb pedal
