Obliged Support 5 Αγαπητε, you do faithfully whatever you may work for the brothers, and this to strangers, 6 who testified of your αγαπη before (the) called out (εκκλησια), whom you will do well (by), having sent (them) forward worthily of God: 7 for they went out on behalf of the Name, taking nothing from the Gentiles (απο των εθνικων). 8 So we are obligated to be supporting such as these, so that we, ourselves, might become fellow workers in the truth. Hinderance by Domineering Leadership 9 I wrote something to the called out but the domineering (one loving to be pre-eminent of them) Diotrephes (through which nourished and reared, i.e. selfish of gain for himself) doesn't accept us. 10 Because of this, if ever I might come, I will remember his works which he does by pernicious words prattling against us; and not being satisfied by these, he refuses to accept the brothers and estops those inclined to -- even casts them out of the (group of) called out ones. Behold and Mimick God 11 Αγαπητε, don't be mimicking the visciously evil but the good. Anyone doing good is out of (i.e. by) God; anyone doing viscously evil (particularly, blasting with the mouth) has never beheld God. comments (v11) {{{ ~ Never having beheld God does not necessarily mean being unsaved. It is also a characteristic of νηπιοι (unspeaking babes) in Christ, who have fully called upon his name (Rom 10:13) but haven't progressed. Those who are healthy and unstunted in Christ are actually growing in χρηστολογια του χριστου, Christ's providential speech. Christ is the anointed, providing what is needed. (cf. Jude 9). }}} Be a Mother to People You are Bound To in Life 12 (This good) has been testified of (perf.) in Demetrius (mother to people you are bound to) by all, and by truth herself (honest, raw reality stripped of all thoughts and reasonings from self, other people, and the world system); we, indeed, are also testifying -- and y'all know our testimony is true. Kissing the Son 13 I had many things to write to you but I don't want to be writing to you by means of ink and reed pen; 14 Indeed, I am expecting presently to be seeing you, and we will speak mouth to mouth (cf. Kissing the Son). 15 Peace to y'all. The friends themselves are greeting you. Be greeting the friends yourselves by name. comments (v15) {{{ ~ Take the time to intimately familarize with the friends in greeting -- not impersonally. The friends are the network composing the body of Christ }}}
