Tutorial - Font

No Font to Download on Windows XP

If you are first visiting this site and have never used a greek resource online, you will undoubtedly be lacking the proper font. In fact, if you browse around this site, you might start seeing funny little blank boxes showing up in odd places...like this following picture demonstrates:

This is a result of your default font not having diacriticals supported...in other words, it doesn't know what to do with multiple characters that have to be squished on top of each other by the font. Fortunately, it's easy to resolve, you just need to download a font and install it on your computer. I generally recommend Gentium, though you might like the look of Code2000 better. I've got a picture of each below.

First, Gentium

Finally, Code2000

These fonts can be found through a friendly Google search.

Again, if you have Windows XP, then you don't need to worry about any of this because it comes with Palatino Linotype already installed.

To customize your font, check out the tutorial pages on that
